Question?
So I've seen a few posts about the times of registration and what to do and such and wasn't sure if I should just ask in one of those posts or just do this so I'm asking in here first.
Is there any way you can pick up someone else's badge for them? My friend is flying in on Friday night and won't get to the hotel till 10:30 - 11:00. My other friend and I are both doing the third showing of BHPS which starts at 11:30 and then there will probably be other nighttime programming that we all want to see but she won't have a badge so won't be able to see us in the show or do any of the programming at all. I thought I saw one time last year that there was a way to do it with special permission or something? But I don't know if it is possible. |

Last weekend I was lucky enough to tour an organic farm, and left with the loveliest heirloom beets - striped Italian Chioggias and vibrant Golden Detroits. I put them to use in this summer salad: beet 'carpaccio' with goat cheese, walnuts, sweet onion + mâche. Super easy but incredibly fresh and delicious.  - Roast beets in a 375 oven for 1 to 1.5 hours; until cooked through and skin peels easily. Cool beets and then slice super fine on a mandoline. - Lay beets on a plate and top with crumbled goat cheese, crushed walnuts, mâche (or a peppery microgreen) and paper thin sliced of Vidalia or other sweet onion that has been soaked in water for 10 minutes. Drizzle salad with a good quality olive oil (or walnut oil if you got it) and season with salt and pepper. The picture doesn't do justice to the gorgeous Chioggias.. here is a photo of the beets at the farm :)  |

Hello, lovely library grrrls. A renegade bunch of us. Well, I haven't been initiated yet, but am working towards that MLS.
I'm sure this question has been asked, but I would like a fresh answer.
Where can I find an awesome reference (a book maybe) that lists the practical and techie-related skills that a librarian can learn.
ie...Access, xhtml, sql, cataloging, etc..... other up and coming software, languages, hardware. Anything you can think of.
Having a boring summer, want to make it worthwhile......
By the way, I love lists. It's a sickness. |

Seafood Glass Noodle 
Tung Hoon, also known as Glass noodle, Mung Bean Threads or Cellophane noodles has got to be one of my favourite noodles. It cooks quickly and it absorbs the flavours from whatever you are cooking it in. They are clear coloured noodles made of Mung Beans (but of course!) I had a craving for tung hoon and seafood. I had some seafood from my last loot sitting in my freezer…perfect! I made such a huge batch…enough to feed 8! Total cost of making this one dish meal which was totally satisfying…all of SG$13.

...so i'm sitting here, minding my own business, and i suddenly de-mute the tv to discover a rather pregnant gillian anderson on the tonight show talking to jay leno about top gear! i'm pretty sure that's what they were talking about, at least...she was saying something about a race between a car and a jet plane, and helen mirren and judy dench racing each other (not literally, on the power lap board). she also said she'd been invited to be on the show, but couldn't because of her pregnancy.
OMG someone else in america knows about top gear! (yes, i know she lives in london. but she mentioned it in america, and jay knew what she was talking about!)
if this were not reason enough to give scully the mad props, she then proceeded to pwn jay in a dirty innuendo contest:
her: people rear-end me in l.a. just to get my reaction (on their cell phones). people don't do that in london.
him: that's not how this happened, is it? (nodding at her pregnant belly)
her: (lets the laughter die down - kindly) you may not know this, jay...but it's a different hole.

Here they are! So, I ordered the glasses from Zenni Optical and they came in yesterday. Great! I think I like them. I'm not completely sold on the shape yet. I'm also not completely sold on the accuracy of the prescription, so I'm going to get them checked at a glasses store. So I can't vouch for them in that regard yet. I'll definitely keep you updated on that front. Without further ado (and without further discomfort from excess typing and lacking the use of one of my most important digits. ack, more on that after the cut), I present... ( PICTURES! )Anyway, them is my glasses. What do you think? |

While going onto iTunes to search for Zumba workout video thingies (best way to exercise! Loads of fun!)
I stumbled across Doctor Who Series One through Three!!!!
Yay! I know what I'm buying!
